Year 7 Art Trip to Yorkshire Sculpture Park

It is the time of year when we take the Year 7's to YSP to experience Art work in situ. The day is full of activities: modelling with playdough, texture rubbings, poem writing, designing and drawing, human sculptures and found object sculptures.

Inspired by Barbara Hepworth's Family of Man

 Goldsworthy inspired leaf arrangements
The pupils write poems based on their time on the trip, after looking at the work of Alec Finlay. These have been written on luggage tags so we can display them in the trees outside the Art Department.

"I look out over the field
Sheild my eyes from the sun,
I admire the art and the sculptures
today has been good fun"

"Sitting still in the dappled sunlight,
Bronze figures in the distance,
Awaiting pictures to be taken,
this is Yorkshire Sculpture Park"

The pupils use their experiences from the day in Term 2 when they complete a sculpture project.
