Y8 Group Work

Three Y8 groups were given the theme TEXTURE and an inspiration image of coral. They were shown a number of techniques, a few guidelines of what should be included, a success criteria and then provided with a grey rectangle of card each. In  self chosen groups they collected resources, planned, painted, stuck, made a mess(!), cleared up and developed final outcomes. A number of times along the way I wondered if giving so much free reign was crazy, but they did well and certainly enjoyed themselves. Well done.

Year 7 Birds

A huge well done to 7ML and 7CH who have created these fantastic birds. This project taught the students about colour theory (in a different way!). It also gave the students the opportunity to develop their painting and drawing skills. The Year 7's were inspired by the work of Mark Hearld. Well done Year 7 - we are really looking forward to seeing what you create next!

Day of the Dead

The first project that the current Year 9's completed in the Autumn term was based around the Mexican festival 'The Day of the Dead'. This was the first time the Art department has taught this project and there were some brilliant, original outcomes! This project gave the Year 9 students the opportunity to explore a different way of life, Art from another culture, and the use of mixed media to create final pieces.

Below are some great examples - well done Year 9!
