Christmas dinner is just around the corner and the Turkey’s are trying to escape. The Year 8's helped them on their mission by putting them in fancy dress!

Csenge Nemeti in Year 9 has been learning how to digitally draw/paint in Photoshop. This is a beautiful piece of artwork that shows just what can be achieved with a digital package.

Classroom turns into Photographic Studio

The backdrops that were installed over the Summer have become an extremely useful tool, and very well used, by the Photography students.

Any donations of studio lighting and equipment would be gratefully received!!!

Year 8 Clay Texture Paperweights

8ELM, 8ERA and 8RFJ have been exploring Texture through the using clay. They have developed modelling, joining and incising skills. Once the pieces have dried and been fired they will add colour.

Year 7 Winter Wishes Competition

Leadership always set the Year 7's a competition to design and make the cover for the GSA greeting card. This year's theme was Winter Wishes.

Year 7 Art Trip to Yorkshire Sculpture Park

It is the time of year when we take the Year 7's to YSP to experience Art work in situ. The day is full of activities: modelling with playdough, texture rubbings, poem writing, designing and drawing, human sculptures and found object sculptures.

Inspired by Barbara Hepworth's Family of Man

 Goldsworthy inspired leaf arrangements

 The pupils write poems based on their time on the trip, after looking at the work of Alec Finlay. These have been written on luggage tags so we can display them in the trees outside the Art Department.

I admire the art and the sculptures

today has been good fun"

The pupils use their experiences from the day in Term 2 when they complete a sculpture project.

Art and Photography Awards for 2012 - 2013

Last night was the George Spencer Academy Prize Giving Evening. The evening is a great chance to celebrate the successes of the students across the whole school and to highlight those that have achieved above and beyond. The following images show the Artwork of the Art award winners.
